Yes, it’s true. Pirates of the Caribbean does exist. As much as Captain Jack Sparrow would like you to think otherwise- he has a beautiful shack tucked away in the Malibu Mountains that he recluses too when his pirate life has gotten rough. Upon one of my many researches, I came across an airbnb that was decorated like a Pirates’s Paradise. Now this may sound a little weird to some, although, it was nothing short of spectacular. After traveling and bouncing around a lot, you start to realize how expensive hotels are and how much more fun airbnb’s and homeaway’s can be. This “shack” was only $95/night and came with his WHOLE PROPERTY to play on- now I’m talkin’: hot tubs, hanging chairs, hammocks, outdoor bath/shower, waterfalls, chirping frogs, lush greenery everywhere and of course my favorite part, the Tipi:) I couldn’t believe my ears when the owner’s assistant, who checked us in, said all this is yours to enjoy! I was like a kid in a candy shop. We set our belongings down in a one bed one bath “shack” (which was beautifully decorated) and started to run around every square inch to see everything it had to offer.
For a second, I had forgotten which continent I was on. Everywhere you looked there was something; huge anchors, crystals, colored gems, day beds, shells, colored lighting. You name it, it was there. After traveling all day and wearing myself out from running around the property, we chose to use are fully stocked kitchen to cook up some food we got from the market down the road. Eating outside and being deep away in the Canyon, you lose your train of thought; it is so peaceful and quiet. Something I haven’t and I’m sure most of you haven’t experienced in a very long time. After relaxing with nothing but nature all afternoon and evening, it was time for some shut eye. With my plaguing insomnia, this was the best few hours of sleep I have had in a long time. Coming here was a hidden gem that I am proud to be sharing so all of you can experience the same fun yet peaceful time I did.
If your one of my Instagram followers, you probably saw I was in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is a stunning country and the one place in the world I hope to live in one day. Although, now you see, I was really in Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles. I only did this to remind us how powerful our brains are. We don’t have to be 3,000 miles away from home to experience a place as beautiful as Costa Rica. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
